Porsche Carrera Cup Asia announces Talent Pool members for 2024

Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (PCCA) is delighted to announce its five-strong Talent Pool presented by Michelin for the upcoming 2024 season, with the quintet of young racers to compete in the series this year.

Shanghai. The line-up is headlined by Porsche Junior Alessandro Ghiretti, who will race for Team Jebsen and combine his PCCA commitments with Porsche Supercup and Porsche Carrera Cup France, combining for a total of 32 races. The 22-year-old has been part of the Porsche family since making his GT racing debut in 2021 and becomes the 30th Porsche Junior in 2024, joining an illustrious list containing past 24 Hours of Le Mans winners and current GT and Hypercar stars.

Returning to the programme after a promising first year in PCCA in 2023 is Malaysian racer Nazim Azman. The former-FIA Formula 3 driver was a regular frontrunner last season, picking up a podium finish at his home race at Sepang in August. Azman will continue to compete for Sime Darby, Porsche’s importer in Malaysia.

In addition to Ghiretti and Azman, three drivers have been selected from the PCCA Talent Pool Assessment, held at Sepang in December. 2023 Porsche Carrera Cup France Junior Mathys Jaubert enjoyed a strong maiden season in the French championship in 2022, finishing fourth overall and second in the Rookies’ standings. The teenager picked up podiums at Magny-Cours and Paul Ricard, and, like his fellow countryman Ghiretti, will also be tackling Porsche Supercup and Porsche Carrera Cup France, making for a busy 2024 campaign in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. Jaubert will take on his maiden PCCA season in the #99 TORO Racing car.

DTM Trophy race winner Rodrigo Almeida will also be tackling his first full season in Asia, competing for R&B Racing. The Mozambican driver has enjoyed a strong junior career, and has experience in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, having taken two podiums in the Portuguese GT Championship in 2021.

Finally, Chinese racer Dylan Yip also joins the PCCA Talent Pool, driving for Phantom Global Racing. The 20-year-old has extensive achievements in European karting, and moved up to GT racing in 2023.

After the success of last year’s Talent Pool Assessment, PCCA will run the same programme later in 2024 as it continues to search for talented young racers.

Alexandre Imperatori, Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Manager: “The 2024 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia season is shaping up to be really exciting, and we’re delighted to have five promising drivers as part of our Talent Pool. Alessandro proved his ability with his performances in 2023, and we’re very happy to have the official Porsche Junior competing with us. Equally, Nazim drove very strongly during his first Porsche Carrera Cup Asia season, while Mathys, Rodrigo and Dylan all came to us through the Talent Pool Assessment and impressed us with their performance. We are looking forward to seeing their performances on the race track this year and accompanying them as they develop within the Porsche pyramid.
